A Catholic Sister working for the Toledo, Ohio diocese reflects on her ministry to gay men during the late 1980’s and early 1990’s. Sister Eileen Schieber resigned her position as the Bishop’s vicar to partner with community organizers dedicated to providing care and housing for those with HIV/AIDS during the height of the epidemic.

March 2024 Television Broadcast:
Sister Eileen and Her Boyz, an HIV in the Rust Belt Story will be distributed to PBS affiliates across the United States, into parts of Canada, and throughout Puerto Rico in March 2024 by the National Educational Telecommunications Association (N.E.T.A.), a leading provider of quality educational media content to public broadcasting systems. Although a stand-alone piece, the film is the first completed chapter within an on-going documentary series called HIV in the Rust Belt, recording the stories of long-term HIV survivors, their care givers, and their connections to David’s House.
